Sick Peahen

my husband got home and we didnt make it to okc in time so I'm hoping Monday morning they can get her in asap, shes standing, eating and drinking on her own right now so theirs some hope she will be okay...
If you have any metronidazole it would not hurt to give her some. If you don't it can be found at Pet-Smart in the fish area called Fish-zole or there is a powdered form there as well. Give 250mg once per day orally for five days for BH.

I have been for the last 2 days, kathy sent some when little eagle was sick as a chick. Which was Dec 2014 so it's old but it's all I have and it seems to be doing the trick. Shes standing and completely alert, eating, drinking. All of those sign point to shes going to be okay, 2 days ago she couldn't even stand up and wouldn't hardly open her eyes for me. I've had her inside with me so I can keep an eye on her. I will keep you updated. Hopfully Monday I can still get her into the vet just in case!

Shes doing so much better today=)

Great news! This also drives home the importance of having a few of the most important drugs on hand.
Shes even better today! I have been giving her Tylan 200 orally incase it was an infection as well as the Metronidazole and Avian-Nutri Drench, I think the combo of the 3 meds have got her back to were she needs to be. Her poo looks normal as well! Yes it's very important to have meds on hand, if I wouldn't have I would have definitely lost her!
