Hi all, we just got the sweetest 6 month old roo and he came down with a bad respiratory infection the day after we got him. He’s going to be on antibiotics for about 6 days and I noticed yesterday that he may have a small spot of what looks like Favus on his comb. We have miconazole on hand but should we wait until after the antibiotic treatment to treat the Favus or treat at the same time? I’ve read that antibiotics make fungal infections worse so not sure what to do here. Thank you!

Sorry for the poor photo it’s the only one I’ve got right now 😬

Welcome To BYC

I'm sorry he's not feeling well, what antibiotic are you treating him with?

The spot on his comb doesn't look like Favus to me. Favus usually looks like powdery residue on the comb.

What you are seeing may be from a peck wound or injury. Possibly a small Fowl Pox lesion that is starting, I'd keep an eye on it and see if it gets better, worse or stays the same.

We were pretty worried about him at first. So far he’s been so sweet to us. He went downhill pretty fast and I really didn’t think he was going to be alive in the morning but he seemed to have more energy and strength the next day before we even gave him meds. He wants out of quarantine to be with his ladies BAD! 😂 We were prescribed sulfadimethoxine in his water for 6 days.
