I do feel lucky, she saved the life of one of my blue cochins a couple of months ago. I had to really search for a vet that would treat chickens, I couldn't find anyone near me which is odd because I live in a very rural farming area! Dr. Z. is about an hour away but I gladly make the drive because I know that she knows what she's doing!

Dr. Zyra called tonight and said that Precious is "comfortable." They are tube feeding, giving fluids, antibiotics, eye drops, the works! she couldn't be in a better place!

Coming to this thread too late, but I would definitely be giving my chicken a shot of abx as well as eye drops/antibiotic ointment in the eye for an eye infection that bad! Hope it never happens again to you or anyone else, but that was beyond topical antibiotics imo. And I thought the 2nd pic looked worse.

Hope your vet gets her fixed up and feeling better quickly!

I am pretty much on my own when I am having major chicken issues. Glad it worked out!!!

Talked with Dr. Zyra this morning and she said Precious is coming along beautifully!

She said the eye looked much better and she wanted to keep her one more day, so I guess I'll be bringing my girl home tomorrow!

Thats Wonderful!! I'm Soo glad Precious is much better!! The pictures were aweful!!

what a roller coaster this has been. Dr. Z. called to say that Precious looked good and she could go home tomorrow and then she called me five minutes later and said "I'm so sorry, I know I just called with good news but I'm afraid I have bad news now. We went to give her her nightly treatment and she arrested and died." I am devastated
