Yes, she was definitely my favorite because the others always seemed to shun her. She was the underdog, and yet she always ran up to greet me, and she was the only one who would run up to the fence to greet the dog. She was just a special little spirit.

Are you ever going to get more araucanas? Could she have been egg bound? And the egg broke inside of her? I'm sorry that she live. How is is she? Brownie was a beautiful hen! Have you buried her yet?

*hugs* Losing a chicken is horrible. But at least you know you did everything you could for her, and she spent her last days in a warm comfortable place away from the bullying. She doesn’t have to suffer anymore now.

Egg laying is hard. I had a little bantam girl who got a stuck egg, and it broke while I was trying to remove it. I cleaned all the shell and everything out, but she still developed a fatal infection and had to be put down. I still regret not taking her to the vet for antibiotics as soon as it happened. I had an extremely demanding job at the time, but I still should have found a way.
