Sickly duck at local produce store...

I've already left, but I'm seething. "It's young and that's why it looks scruffy. We won't be selling it until it's old enough for its plummage to come out properly." More like it's unhealthy and we can't sell it or we might be blamed for its death since you probably don't know anything about ducks". Which, granted, I don't, but that doesn't mean I'm any less aware of what's wrong thanks to you guys here. Arghhh! I'll be sending them another message. I don't want to give the name of the store or their number (well, I DO, but can't) as I may get in trouble for slander, but I most certainly will do my best not to let this issue drop.

I will include all information that has been provided to me here, I really can't thank you all enough for your support and help!

thank you for caring.

Those ducklings are adorable. :)

Thank you for posting that video! I am forwarding it to the produce store as well to further support my request of water in there. Holy WOW they look so much healthier than this duck does!

Just a quick update - I've reported the store to the RSPCA. I am sincerely hoping they can do something about the conditions there.
I will DEFINITELY be keeping a close eye on the duck though and intend to visit it every couple of days, if I can.

Thank you for caring, I hope the RSPCA will come out and look this place over.

Another quick update, after reporting the store last night, I heard back from the RSPCA this morning. This is the reply I was sent:

"Hello Sampy,

Thank you for the information regarding this situation, I have lodged a complaint and forwarded it to the area inspector. Reference number: ______. (Not sure if I'm allowed to make it public?)

We understand and appreciate that you are concerned about the situation you have reported. Please be assured that all valid complaints are investigated. Regrettably, privacy and legal considerations do not allow us to provide you with information on the specific outcomes of an investigation, unless the animal involved belongs to you. Our feedback is limited to confirming that a report has been actioned, whether or not an animal welfare problem was identified, and whether the problem has been or is being addressed. Please keep in mind that our Inspectors are responsible for investigating thousands of animal welfare complaints annually and such requests for feedback take up valuable time and resources."

I really hope they can do something about that place. I will definitely be dropping in every now and again where possible to see if any changes have been made.

Thank you once again to everybody who offered advice or support, it really meant a lot!
