Sigh, hens or roos?

I must say, as a newbie, I am a bit discouraged. I was looking for laying hens. I knew buying pullets vs straight run would give me better odds, but I really didn't expect 60% of my little flock to end up as roos.
If they were sexed as pullets, I'd be calling TSC and seeing what they can do for you. This is way more than an Oops rooster or two. Folks need to start holding TSC accountable for what they sell, or they're just going to keep doing things like this.

I'm going to TSC today to pick up some other things so I'm going to talk to them. My receipt(that I kept) does say 'pullets', but what are they going to do-give me my 3.99 back and take the chickens? I mean, I've fed and watered them, kept them warm. I might as well sell for a couple bucks or give them away at this point.....I'm still holding out hope until they start crowing.

I bought my black australorp pullets at TSC too, I only got two along with 2 silver laced wyandottes and 4 buff orpingtons. Both of my BA pullets look like they're going to be roos too. Uuugh, mine are about 7/8 weeks old. Here are my pictures. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/901820/pullet-or-cockrel
Ugh. Yours look just like mine. I went to TSC today. got a shoulder shrug and a laugh. Guy said to bring them to a swap and folks will buy them. I looked at my friend and said 'I guess I know where I won't be getting chicks next year!". Such crap. I should have paid a buck less each for a straight run.....

This was my second year to buy chicks from TSC and will be my last. First year I got red sex links and @ least they were all pullets. This year I bought 3 buff orp pullets--- they are snow white, so I am waiting to see if they are leghorns or white rocks by what color eggs they lay. By the grace of God at least they appear to be all girls. If I don't get chicks from a hatchery, I will go to a local feed store where the owner actually checks what is written on the shipping invoice and sells the correct breeds, instead of going to TSC and having some 17 yr old cowboy wannabe opening the chick boxes and taking a wild guess. How would one hold TSC accountable months after the sale? After all, the initial cost of a chick is peanuts compared to the months of feed and care while you wait to find out what you actually have as they mature.

I kind of see getting an accidental breed as a blessing...As long as it's a good layer! Hahaha.
you probably never would have even tried that breed otherwise, and all chickens have their personalities! Maybe you'll fall in love with one lol.
Yes, the accidental BR has become our favorite!
