Some lines of BAs do mature quite fast I've been told, and occasionally an individual hen will do so. At 12 weeks, I had two that people SWORE were cockerels. Well, one is, we know. The other's comb stopped growing and 'she' has no male feathers to speak of and chatters like a hen so the jury is still out. I will post a pic of an egg or video of a crow once we figure it out! Haha We are at 15 weeks of age.
Btw, look for the hackle, saddle and sickle feathers in addition to the comb. I see some in some of those photos. Your boys will have more green sheen to them as well. Hope that helps and good luck!
Quote: How did you order only two?
Oh, OK.Because I also ordered 15 Cornish X chicks, but I didn't want too mention because I know some get touchy about actually eating chicken. Lol. ( also getting a surprise chick free)
Would be interested to see or hear about what you finally discover with your chicks. I ordered two more pullets from Murray McMurray, hoping they truly are females.
