Well, a lot of places. Like many of our elders, the cold weather has driven me to bed to try and soothe all 230 joints, as well as my spine and ribs, all of which get worse in the cold. I also got a new baby brother! And 15 chickens! So this Tani has been busy.
I'm sorry you are missing your friend, Em. I see you are not the only one. I wish I had known him, I could sure use his guidance with my lone pea chick and I know he would have been happy to help.
I think of Burt at odd times...Sometimes the random things we said on these threads, but more often, the things he said in private. He often shared wisdom in matters we discussed privately, and I still remember his advice. Every time I click these threads I remember his PM's..."those threads sure do give me a pick up on these low days!"
Truth be told, Burt is the reason I've kept it going...and still do.
Burt's greatest wisdom given to me can be summed up in this; each day to live and each day to learn, don't over analyze things just do it, the rest will come in time.
I need a little counsel and wisdom from my fellow elders, regarding my daughter. I'm thinking about putting a sticker on her bucket, as a warning to the sparkly wannabe's in her class.
This one:
Do you think it's too much?
See, when she got in the car this afternoon after school, she had such a case of the giggles she almost couldn't speak. Seems that she and her friend had been walking around the field during recess (6th graders get it just before the end of the school day). Three big boys fell into step right behind them, and were being rowdy, noisy and generally obnoxious. "I could have thought of a sharp retort," she said, "but that would have taken me a minute to think of something, and I just wanted them gone now." So she turned on her heel and bellowed, "What are you doing??!" right in their faces (she has a surprisingly big voice for her size). "I don't know what they expected, but it clearly wasn't that. They just scattered. I think I scared them!" She has skewered a couple of other twerps in the past couple of months, though I don't think she's routed 3 at one time before. I guess eventually the word will get around that she's armed and dangerous. In the meantime, I thought the sticker might serve as a warning, and spare her the bother of having to explode all over somebody else. What do you think?
