*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

I really don't know how 49 years has passed so quickly, and frankly the passing of time is like a down hill roller coaster picking up speed. Thought things were supposed to slow down as you aged?
How do you survive for a significant period of time with another? One day at a time, realize that it's a commitment/job that needs to be worked at, respect, flexibility, pick someone that you really like, trust, support, laugh a lot, time together, time apart, acceptance, physical compatability, luck --- and the list goes on. Kiss a lot, touch and hold a lot, and even though they already know tell them, "I love you frequently." Have dates/make time for one another even during the busiest of times. If you are male, may I suggest 3 short sentences: Yes dear. You're right dear. I'm sorry dear.

And never tell her that her butt looks big in those jeans.
Congratulations on the long marriage. I am truly impressed with the wisdom you shared above. With one exception. If my DH told me, "I love you frequently." I'm not sure I would take that kindly.

Happy Anniversary, Sour! May you have many more happy years together.
(and a few disagreements that end in really great make-up sessions.)

I agree with Wisher. Hubby and I tell each other "I love you" all the time - and it embarrasses the kids. If we said "I love you frequently" I think it would scar them for life!

Yeah, what about the rest of the time, hmmmm?

Does that mean you really can't stand me most of the time?

Gee, thanks.

(I bet you think these jeans really do make my butt look big, too!)

Daughter, grand daughter and I went to see the Princess's play last night. Good fun, and they stayed over at our house. This morning they went for an hour run in 9 degree F temps. They are a couple of nut jobs.

They just returned - doesn't look like fun to me.

Why can't they be sensible like me?

Now that's dedication for ya! I couldn't run - knees can't take the pounding, but I used to bicycle. Couldn't even do that if the temps were lower that the upper 40's. I don't care how much I tried, I could never get "warmed up" enough to keep from stiffening up somewhere and damaging things that took a lot longer to heal in the cold weather - just not worth it for me.
