*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

A welder you say? Well, how much welding do you want done? You know, I do love to weld.

There should be a club for this. :p

As a teenaged girl, I have never had the chance to weld. But my brother, the amateur swordmaker, has. He had to connect a cross peice to a tang, and I think he enjoyed welding them. He just likes anything having to do with metal.

Tani, your brother should seriously consider becoming a welder. And if he really enjoys metal work he might want to see if he can get an blacksmith apprenticeship. There's nothing like forming something out of stock while only using a forge, hammer and a anvil, and a occasionally a chisel. Especially if he likes making swords. The finest swords are all hand forged, but it takes many years of practice to get that good!

That's actually what he wants to do! He has a forge here at home, with an anvil and hammers and chisels and a fire pit and the dremmel... His health might be an issue. He's breathed in so many bits of metal that he has holes in his lungs, which has caused him to get pneumonia a lot. But he loves working with steel. His swords are lovely!

Em, you are quite right to consider MFB's feelings on that. Even the most confident man is extremely sensitive when it comes to his welding prowess. He wants to know that you like his welding better than any other's, even if he is willing to admit that he may not be the best. It is a terrible blow to a man's ego if he suspects there is another welder whose skills are superior to his own, yet only a few are willing to take time to learn to do it right. I don't mind at all telling my welder how I want it done, but he needs to be willing to listen, and change his plan, if needed. An ego will only stand in the way of doing a great job. I mean, isn't the ultimate goal supposed to be a customer who is completely satisfied? Of course, having quality equipment is important, too..............

It is...it is.

The best welder has the perfect amount of skill balanced well with the proper equipment...the results of such a welder are always extraordinary.

I couldn't agree more, Em. I am more convinced than before, due largely to this discussion, that I could benefit greatly from the services of a skilled and well equiped welder.

I might even be willing to pay him........

...............well.
