Around here, it's pretty well understood that there's not much point in asking questions that begin with "why," because you probably don't really want to know the answer. But, really, sometimes, you gotta wonder . . . .
Like what happened tonight. Actually, this started a couple of days ago, when DS dropped an unopened can of Pepsi. The can's top bulged out a bit, but DS knew about the messy potential of a shaken can, so he carefully set it aside in the pantry. So far, so good. But today, for some reason, BB2K just had to open it - just a teensy bit, apparently, to see what it would do. I can understand her curiosity, but the rest has me stumped. The can had had a couple of days to settle down, so I guess it just hissed a little bit - a bit disappointing, perhaps. Now, BB2K doesn't even like Pepsi, so she didn't drink it, she put it in the refrigerator. Not in the door, mind you, but on a the front of a shelf, and placed so precariously that, when I went to put something else on the shelf a little while ago, this can was dislodged and fell off the shelf onto the floor in front of the fridge. Evidently there was plenty of fizz left in the can, because it erupted in a fine spray that shot at least 5 feet in the air. It managed to cover me and the inside and outside of the fridge, and a good bit of the kitchen floor, before I managed to get both hands on the thing and deposit it in the kitchen sink. I needed a shower anyway, but I really didn't intend to take one in cola. I mopped up what I could, but I'm too tired to deal with the rest of it. The whole fridge is going to need to be emptied out and wiped down tomorrow; I think I got the floor well enough that it won't be sticky when it dries.![]()
I'm not sure even a Mentos could get a 12 oz can to shoot high enough to hit the ceiling. Good thing, too - it's textured. Don't you know that would be a bear to clean up!What about the ceiling? You gotta get that too!
