*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

Well, I'm bummed. I just lost this duck to a colossally stupid snake. Not a duck like this duck, this duck, my "famous" duck.

I found her with her head and neck feathers all wet and slicked down. Some idiotic snake killed her and tried to eat her, though of course he couldn't.

I've been having a down day anyway, but this? I couldn't even manage to get mad.

I would not like a snake to kill my duck.
I would not like that at all.

Spook does not like snakes.

Sorry Bunny. But it's time to go snake hunting now.

Spook

*Spook does not have ducks now. Had two, bought with the chickens from TSC a few years ago. Was great fun to watch them try to "roost' with the chickens. Anyone ever see a duck fall out of a tree? The ducks finally gave up, just slept on the ground.

*When Hana was very young, a toddler, there was a little animal park up the road. We would go, feed the ducks. We were standing on the bridge feeding the ducks in the water when one snuck up behind her and bit her thumb going for the bag of food Hana was holding. Cried like a baby...

Who cried? Spook?

:bun lady, that TOTALLY sucks.. Stupid thing, killing super cute duck and then not even eating it.

Well..wanna hear about Alaskan's stupid mistake?

Even though Alaskan DOES know better, and Alaskan did, at the time, stop for five seconds and think "this is a mistake", Alaskan DID IT ANYWAY! Yes, yes. :/

Today, and all of yesterday, the Alaskan family (except for oldest boy, who was smart enough to hide effectively) built a marvelous chicken tractor. A chicken tractor of awesomeness! It is a military green chicken tractor since military green paint is strong enough to protect the coop from atomic bombs, and even TnT! (The boys told me so)

And yet, we completed the entire thing, with all netting, AND THEN painted.

Hack hack. Wheeze. BLACH

OK.... So... We painted lots of it, and some of the net, but not all of the wood.

It is surprisingly difficult to smush a brush through strong plastic net to reach wood boards deep below.

Shall we call the "interesting" paint job a concerted attempt to make the tractor more camouflaged?

Alaskan.... COMPLETE WITH NEW AVATAR (melodious drum roll in background)

You're so awesome, Big Alaskan.

Predators will never find a camouflaged tractor...

(don't forget to repaint it white in a few weeks for the snow)

Aw, thanks, guys.

That duck was one of a trio that I gave Baby

for her birthday a few years ago. She's kinda lost interest in them, which is why I said it was "my" duck.

Love the new avatar, Alaskan. I hardly recognized you - is that a sandhill crane?

You said you got the chicken tractor partly painted. Knowing kids, I'm betting yours were partly painted, too.

Spook, I don't know about you, but I always cried when my babies cried.

Yes :bun lady (Alaskan dancing about), that *IS* a Sandhill crane.

Sandhill cranes come when the snow is leaving, and they are LOUD! I love listening to them yell. They were flying all over and calling when I touched up the CHICKEN TRACTOR OF AWESOMENESS this morning. So nice! They leave sort of late (compared to the other seasonal birds) so they are perfect for a summer avatar.

However.... I think you should notice that the background is white. I took that picture two weeks ago, when four of them were standing in my front yard, and that white stuff is snow.

Spook, since your comment referred to the return of the white stuff.... Well.... Uh..... I am glad you find the coop awesome!

Alaskan.....now the owner of a sore back (or a soaring back....sounds so calm and floaty)
