Hoo, boy! I saw thousands of little frog jelly thingies in the pond over at the horse farm last week. It's a "vernal pond" - it forms from the runoff from the neighboring streets (there are 3 culverts that drain into this pasture). It may go months and months without a pond forming, but in the last year, I don't think there's been more than one period of a few weeks when there wasn't water there. Somehow, in the last few weeks, it has acquired a thriving population of Mosquito fish (I'm not sure; the folks at Vector Control may be responsible for that). I don't know if the frog/toad eggs have enough time to develop, but if they do, that'll be the third wave of amphibians coming out of that pond this year - wow!
