*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

My DS#1 got his DL last May. He wants to drive to school everyday but I won't let him. He was promised a vehicle (truck) if he kept his grades up -- he didn't. We bought a truck for him to drive, but with the F on the report card, we labeled it "Mom's Truck." I told him I would let him drive it to school some, but no more than two days a week. The other days, he takes the bus, which still comes to the end of our driveway morning and afternoon. I also told him that when he is able to put gas in it, he can take it more often. He thinks he is mistreated, I think he needs a job........

"I think he needs a job.........."

That seems to be the modern lament.

I think that I started working at birth and know that I started working for $ at 12 years of age - cleaning chicken coops for a neighbor. That $ was just for effect in reality I was paid less than a dollar/hour----- and was glad to get that.

Man, your parents were tough!

Mine were a bit easier... I didn't start work until I
was six months old. My first job was crawling around
on the floor picking up things mom missed with her
vacuum....the gig didn't pay much, but I got a lot of
bottle breaks.

An "F" on my report card...I would of been in trouble yet.
A different time, neither of my parents made it all the way
through school. They wanted better for me. I went all the
way. Anything less than a "B" and I was in trouble. B minus
would get me in trouble.

Spook...who wasn't smart enough to run away.

He's a good kid. He is kind, and there is not a mean bone in his body. He loves animals and is one of the most tenderhearted kids I've met. He has ADHD. I was one of those that thought it was just a chemical way for parents to handle their kids more easily, but he proved me wrong. When he was little, the doc told me it would set him back in maturity about two years. He was right, he acts about 14. The ADHD also makes doing meanial labor (the kind a kid needs) difficult for him. He works around here, but I can't count on him to finish one job before he starts another or is sidetracked by something more interesting, like a grasshopper. I'm going to give him some time to mature before I push him to get a job, in the meantme, I will offer up extra chores around here for gas money. I think I will let him build a concrete pad for the duck pool. Building forms, mixing concrete, screeding should teach him some life skills.........

Speaking about not being able to count on someone to finish a job -------------------------

Once I was supposed to weed the garden along with my mother - an all day job. We had planned on going fishing so I hid my bike and pole out by the road. I worked my way through the sweet corn, into the creek, under the bridge to the road and away I went. I was in trouble big time.

Good couple of days for the 'dogs of Sourland'. Yesterday Rattler placed first in the 15" male class at my home club and Speak Easy got fourth in the 13 " male class. Today Baby Jayne got NBQ (fifth) in the 13 " b*tch class. Extremely hot and humid and all three performed well - made my effort seem worthwhile.

Alaskan is sure that your dogs don't pee and poop all over your house!

nice ain't it?

These dogs do not live in my house. Our house is reserved for sweet Dani who never eliminates in the house. More accusations of such behavior are hurled at me than at Dani.
