the rich kids had electric fence. We had old barbed wire with each fence post held up by rock piles. We specifically selected for cattle least likely to lean against the fence.

Yep, we grew rocks not grass. If you saw something green, it must have been Spanish moss.

Out west they have cattle that can get fat on almost nothing, they call them 2/40 cattle. Their mouths are 2 feet wide and they run at 40 miles an hour, only way to get a big enough bite to swallow.

But me.... I grew up with too many rocks, and thorny things, lots of thorny things. Thorny short cactus, thorny tall cactus, thorny Mesquite, thorny mouthed snakes. But the cactus, at least you can eat cactus. And, you can always roast the cactus over a Mesquite fueled fire.

And those rocks, roll them around enough, and you sure get strong...but big muscles require more food, which is a problem. At least snake tastes good when fried. Of course, where are you gonna get the fat to fry it up? Nothing fat, except the thorns.

Lots of big fat thorns.
