Harvey is many things, but he's not a fool; he knows Harrison doesn't fight fair:

As you can see from this clip, it was intended that the scene involve some whip-and-sword play. I've heard that Harrison was under the weather (really, doesn't it show?), and it was clear that he wasn't up to filming, so they just did a little bit and quit. The whip work wound up on the cutting room floor; credit for one of the biggest laughs in the movie belongs to the guy doing the editing.

Joe Willie used to play golf at the club near our house (yes, I was a privileged child) and I spend a lot of time there. He used to call me "Leo" because of my collie of that name, He liked that dog and roughhoused with him whenever the two met. One day, I had been in the creek on the course, and so had Leo. He had black mud up to his elbows when he spied Joe. He took off across the fairway and launched himself at Joes white Polo, leaving two muddy streaks down it's front.

Luckily, Joe is a good sport.......
