*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

I made Terry go with me to see the conjuring...the poor guy in front of me got a popcorn shower more than once!!! Terry swears I broke his arm...but the Queen enjoys a good scary movie.

No scary stuff here either. Fall decorations. When I lived in town Halloween decorations went up on the front. PorchTrick or treat morning and down when all treaters were done. I had a life size- witch flying for one side of the porch and a "jail bird" dude in old fashioned black n white stripe jail suit on the other . And the usual spider webs , skeletons jackolaterns etc. Our neighbors did all the really scary stuff. I refused to scare the little kids and especially big ones like me. ;)

Certainly I would NEVER go to a scary movie.
Nope, not me....

It's that time of year again. But with a new twist.
Be no Spook hiding in the corn this year. I've retired.
Just not in it. Since I appear to be serious about not
being the one behind the mask this year, my daughter
wants to go find the biggest badest haunted house in
the area. I don't think she would be scared at all...she
doesn't realize she grew up in the horror stuff. Her whole
world....when she was still a baby, she sat under my desk.
I rocked her with my foot as I wrote. To say nothing of having
life-size props, dummies and weapons on display year
around. It's been her normal world. Her friends still come
over and are amazed by the stuff just out in the open.

A man really loved a woman, but he was just
too shy to propose to her. Now he was up in
his years and neither of them had ever been
married. Of course, they dated about once a
week for the past six years, but he was so timid
he just never got around to suggesting marriage
much less living together.

But one day, he became determined to ask her
the question. So he calls her on the phone, "Emily."

"Yes, this is Emily."

"Will you marry me?"

"Of course I will! Who's this?"

......saw that online, and a certain someone just
popped in my mind. At her age and all, she can't be as
choosy as a yound woman, you know.

I haven't been on this thread in a long time. This must be "homecoming week" Spook, Em glad you are back. I will be checking in more often now. My husband died in July and it has taken me some time to get back into things. You guys make me laugh and make my life lighter.

"Old friends are the best treasures."

Glad to see your name pop up and at the same time,
a sad post to read. My heart goes out to you tonight.
Sort of a "been there, done that". I can't imagine losing
my wife (well, ...sometimes...but that's another story)
Healing takes a long time. If I ever get over losing dad,
I'll let you know.

On the bright side...Em done runned off and got married.
Bunny took to drinking. I know where New Concord is..
Any chance you're a good brownie-maker?

Even funnier...We all know my dad passed away. So I do
the most of mom's driving now. But that doesn't stop the
old guys from hitting on her. (Mom will turn 78 Wenesday)
The mayor of our little town came over the other day to ask
mom to dinner.

Mom isn't interested.

Now, I did sign mom up on that there dating site "Farmers
Only".... I don't want a new daddy, but I would like a old farmer
with one of those fancy air-conditioned farm tractors to come
by. 'specially 'bout plowing time. Ole Spook isn't as young as
he used to be.

*** The 'farmers only' thing isn't true. It's a running joke I made
up at church for mom and her friends. Several widow ladies in
church, and it's a running gag-line now....they've each ordered
a "man".....one lady needs a plumber, someone else needs a
roof patched....Every week or two, one of the women need a new
man.

If you know me at all, you know I WILL laugh. Just as soon as I
get done crying.

Another joke at church is the car wash ideal. Now understand,
most of the women there are elderly. But like all small churchs,
fund raisers are a part. Being me, I suggested a "bikini car-wash".

On the serious side Deb...I know there's no words I can say. It's
just one day at a time, trying to get a litlte better each day.

Spook

I guess it HAS been a long time since you've been on, I've been a fixture here for a couple of years, and I don't remember you being on. Heck, I even did a stretch as Queen when Em needed a short break. Are you going to the National in Columbus?

Thanks everyone, It is just one day at a time. I am trying to manage 30 acres, 2 highland heifers, assorted other critters. I think the heifers will have to go. Help is hard to find.
.Spook, I make killer brownies. I've been making them since I was about 7 years old, and that is a really long time. Since you know where New Concord is maybe you and your wife should make a drive. Would love to meet you in person. You helped me through my Mom's death, then my brother's. I don't know that I will ever totally recover from Doug's. Glad to see you back here and I will be dropping in too.
Em & MFB, congratulations on your wedding. Best wishes to you both. You both look great and the kids are adorable.

We just had a huge thunderstorm roll through here. Kicked me off the internet. I have satellite and a heavy rain will shut it down. I don't want to look at the pen and pasture in the morning. It will be muck boot time.

I guess it has been about a year since I was last on this thread. Don't know why, just always busy.
