Alaskan, you'd really enjoy what I've got going on for the next week and a half. The Cape Fear Fair and Expo - our version of ye olde county fair. Rides (with dazzling computer-controlled light shows and belting out brain-numbing music). Games - 5 chances for two dollars; trade two small prizes for a bigger one! Popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes . . . and people. Scads of people. Oh, yes, and the animals. The fair is held on the grounds of the airport, so there are no permanent structures; we have all of the animals housed in one huge tent. A small but dedicated army of volunteers put this together and try to keep everything fed, clean, and reasonably intact amid a nightly flood of mostly ignorant visitors. I show up to work, and I often find myself spending the whole time talking to people. When I apologize for not getting anything done to the woman in charge of this madhouse, she laughs and says, "that is working! If you are answering their questions, it means I don't have to!"

The poultry went over on Wednesday, the rabbits and my minis yesterday evening. Latte got all anxious about where the little ones went. Good thing I hadn't intended to take Sunny; I wouldn't want her out in public as banged up as she is.

The fair opens tonight. Got your Halloween costume for the pet costume contest ready?

It all depends on the company... I'm not a big fan of socializing when my hubby is home because I just want to keep him to myself... Camp work sucks.

Not much work here he goes into a logging camp 7 hours away for ten days comes home for four.... Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder
