Easily a dozen, I would say, but it would partly depend on the size of the eggs, too. I have bantam Cochins that have hatched more than a dozen bantam eggs, BO's are almost as fluffy as a Cochin. I had a BO that managed to sneak off and hide a nest a couple of times, I know she had at least 10 each time.

Evidently, the 'phony queen that they elected thinks she's the Homecoming Queen or some such, since she's been on this thread daily ever since. She brings most of her "court" with her, too. So many voices, so few brains . . .

What is a homecoming queen exactly anyway?

(I'm home schooled, I don't really know all that public school stuff) If you want me to leave I can, I thought we were having a nice conversation about cycling....

My Golden Crown sat on 10, and their not as fluffy as BO's, so IMO I think a BO can sit on 12 eggs.

Em never offers advice about chickens...because I know nothing about chickens. I'm still learning myself.

I'd say a dozen, but then, I don't ever use a broody hen...we hatch in incubators.

It's always a joke with me; I never really "shoot to kill." Besides, I have a soft spot for youngers.

Be warned, though. On this thread, you make jokes, or you find yourself the butt of them!

One of the athletic events at the school is designated the Homecoming game, there is more hoopla around it than any other, there typically is a dance or some similar event after it (or on another evening on the same weekend). Schools often have events planned for the week leading up to it ("Spirit Day" where you wear the school colors, that sort of thing). The student body votes for a Homecoming Queen, Homecoming Princess(es) and their escorts. They get crowned at the game or the dance, but other than all the attention at that time, it doesn't mean much.

Okay, so general consensus is that 25 would be too many?

I put 25 eggs under her last night, I plan to check when I get home from work and if there are eggs out from under her, I'll put some in the bator.

My last broody found a hiding place and she and the other hens filled it with 23 eggs. She sat and hatched 20 of them and the three that didn't hatch were clear! A coon killed her and all but six of the chicks the next night. I repayed the coon in like fashion the night after.
