Hi I'm Steph,
I live in Southern Maine, and I've owned my my own chickens for about 3 years. I've been helping my mom with her chickens - raising, incubating, processing, etc. - for about 10 years. My husband any I finally bought a house 3 years ago so we were finally able to get chickens of our own!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
5 hens, and 18 fresh hatchlings!
We used to have 11 hens but had some big losses this past winter

(3) What breeds do you have?
Brahma, Jersey Giants, Wyandotte, Cochin, mixes

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I like the bond I have with my chickens

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
sewing, canning, gardening (vegetable), painting

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 3 kids - 8, 10, 13.
2 of them have special needs so my career is on hold until they can be more independent. In the meantime I'm working on our homestead.
We have 1 dog and 4 cats as well

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was always the one doing the research when I was helping my mom with her chickens, and BYC came up A LOT in all my Searching. In finally joined because I really want to improve my hatch rates during incubation but I have some questions I haven't found Answers for

What are your incubation questions? You can join in the hatch alongs or there are lots of threads going on specific incubators!
