Signs A Chicken Is Blind

I have a somewhat blind chicken, too!

I actually think she CAN see but like speckledhen said I think she has poor depth perception and whatever she IS seeing is pretty blurry.

If I clean the coop out and slightly rearrange I always make sure to show her where everything is so she can find them. I also have to help her go into the coop at night since she has some troubles finding her way. But she is the sweetest girl ever and I have actually gotten quite close to her.

we have a hen who is vision impaired but not blind. Her eyes protrude from the lids more than the other girls, she frequently will miss food on the ground, and tends to tilt her head to "see" more clearly. I notice that she can locate food better if it is brightly colored (red berries) or a meal worm that is really moving alot. the contrasting color seems to make a difference for her. She does seem to follow the crowd, but is familiar with the yard and definitely knows where to go. She's a little skittish, especially about being picked up, which could be that she doesn't always see it coming. She's definitely a keeper, though!

I had a white rock that had trouble seeing, she could only see highly contrasting things.

She would feel her way along the coop walls and around the pen.

Her favorite thing was to ride on someones shoes or play follow the shadows.

Unfortunately she decided to try flying inside the coop and flew into a corner breaking her neck.

Enggass,
Your chicken sounds just like one of mine. Did you keep yours? If so, has she started to lay? and has she figured out where the nest boxes are, or does she just use the floor?
My lady is very sweet and affectionate and seems to do pretty well. I keep the food and water in the same places at all times. She has finally figured out how to follow the flock to the treats, but she usually doesn't get any-- she's just as likely to peck the air, another bird, or the ground. Over the past month, I've noticed that she is no longer keeping up with her friend in weight and wattle/comb development, they are about 7 months. She seems quite happy and the alpha hen is her champion, so she doesn't get picked on.
I hope she doesn't fly into any walls!

I have an emergency. I got 11 chicks yesterday, one was torn open by the rest, now I have two that won't move, and their eyes are shut, and won't open, when I pick up one, it starts peeping, the other is silent, and looks like it's peeping but doesn't make any noise, could these two be blind?
