Signs a hen is ABOUT to go broody?

I believe it can be stressful to a broody hen when you pull her off the nest too many times. Either put her in a pen with a wire bottom until she breaks, or give her fertile eggs to hatch. Alternatively you can give her 1-3 day old chicks as long as she's sat for at least 2 weeks straight.

I will let her hatch eggs.

1. No, but she stays in the box for a couple of hours.
2. I haven't trued that yet. But when she gets kicked out of the box by another hen she sits on the edge of the box waiting to go back in the box
3. Yes, when I get near her or if another chicken comes near her
And when she is in the box she will growl or scream loudly at me and she will quickly shove eggs under her and she will peck sometimes if I agitate her a little bit. lol
Most of my non-broody hens exhibit this type of behavior.
Wait until she's in the nest all day and all night before deciding she's broody.
Guessing you want her to be broody, but she isn't.

Yeah, lets just see what happens! I will let you guys know if she goes broody!

I need someone's advice too. I have a buff orpington hen. Right now when I get around her or if another chicken comes close to her she will puff up her feathers, make a broody hen/mother hen clucking sound, and trot away. She hasn't gone broody yet. She has been doing this for a week and a half now and she roosts outside with another chicken. When she is in the nesting box, everytime I go in there or touch her she will growl LOUDLY at me and puff her feathers. She will also quickly shove eggs under her and she will stay in the box for a couple of hours now. BUT the thing is that she has several chest feathers still. Does anybody believe she is threatening to go broody too?

She sounds like she already is broody. If she is spending hours in the nest box, she is broody.

Update: I don't know when she entered the box but I checked on her almost at 12:30. I just checked on her at like 2:50 and she is still in the box. Maybe this could be the day when she goes broody. And also when she flaps her wings she screams lol

Update: She has been in the box for a few hours but now she is out. I wonder if she is just taking a break and getting some food and water.

A watched 'maybe-broody' never sets.

Did she go to roost last night?

You may just have a 'lounger'.....
....have had several birds that spend time in the nest before and after laying.
Is she still laying?
