Are there signs of Easter Eggers getting ready to lay? I have 3 that will be 16 weeks tomorrow, ( I know, too early) but one is quite bigger that the other two, and her face, and small comb is turning red. I just want to be prepared, as they are in a "coop" within our coop, and will need a nestbox in there. Also, do they "squat" too? Has anyone had an Easter Egger that layed early???.

My EE laid at 28 weeks. She had a red comb and face for a couple months before laying. And several weeks before laying, she squatted a lot and was very interested in the nestboxes - going over to them and talking to herself while checking out the eggs laid by the others. I almost gave up on her, because she had ALL the signs, yet she hadn't laid. Then, one day, I found her near the nest, tossing straw over her shoulders. That day I **KNEW** she'd lay before sunset. And she did.

Don't give up. Most mature slower than other breeds. But it's nothing compared to my blue wyandotte. She was born in the last days of April, and STILL, she hasn't laid. I've stopped counting the weeks on her.

Mine are 26 weeks and no eggs yet. I guess I will have to be more patient too. I just can't hardly wait to see the color of the eggs. What fun. Gloria Jean

My 2 EE's are 24 weeks and one of them has been red for a while(over a month) and still nuttin out of 'em. I have stopped counting weeks as well.

My EE's are 22 weeks today--just looked at the calendar. I got my first blue egg today.
My older girls--barnyard mix--layed their first eggs at 20 weeks. I think they are EE's also because they lay a light green and olive green eggs.

Their faces just turned red about 2 weeks ago. I have been added Black Sunflowers seeds to their feed and I have a light in the coop. Plus, the weather has warmed up a bit here.

I am still sending pics of it to my family in GA. The only person more excited than me is my mom.

My EE is 24 weeks and seems to be squatting a lot like my BO who laid for the first time this week. I'm betting on her to be my second one to lay. Hoping it's sooner rather than later...what do you think?
