You are right. It's the reason I never like to buy trios. I buy 3 roosters and 3 hens so I have insurance.

I'm thinking of breeding two single breeds in big flocks...like 25 each breed. That way I can feed all of them in one barn rather than 30 different pens :th

I just went with someone to purchase Brahmas which she raised like that and it didn't look like each bird got as much attention as it should.

Not quite, more like a cattle nucleolus style. I have huge runs and barns so they would get quite a lot of space.

The way it works is by hatching 500 eggs per year and keeping only the top 5% of the chicks hatched
 
I'm going with Dark Cornish cause of the comb type and body mass and I am breeding RIW's to help the breed get off to a good start in this country
Are you breeding DC to show? Do you have any stock yet? I got my trio from a show goer in VA and the birds are beautiful.

Yes I am looking to be breeding DC as exhibition birds. I unfortunately don't have any good birds as of yet. I'm gonna be doing more research on importing into Canada so I can get the best DC's I can find
