Those are soo wonderful! I love the type on the roo and that lacing on the hens is really well done
I had to snap them up. I’m glad I did. I’ve hatched about 40ish chicks out of them this year. The breeder seems like he is going to try to move to “bantam type” LF Darks which means I won’t be buying from him in future. I don’t want deformed birds.

I discovered yesterday that one of the chicks that hatched Wednesday had one leg splayed out to the side and it couldn't push itself up off the floor. So I put hobbles on it. This morning I found that it had pulled out of the hobbles and both legs were splayed out and the feet were cocked up off the bedding. It was starting to get sores on its hocks and it was acting pretty weak (it was pretty weak yesterday too). If the chick had fight, or would have eaten or drunk when I put it up to food, I would have given the thing a chance, but I just decided to cull it. The poor chick kept ending up in the bottom of a cuddle pile under the heater plate and probably would have been suffocated before the end of the day.

Ok y'all, 2 eggciting things happened tonight (sorry, not sorry).
1) There was a possum in the coop tonight! I was late going to shut them up/put them to bed, and when I got there my EE Kes was not on the roost. She was sitting next to the wire wall. I looked around with my flashlight and there was a juvenile possum. It looked like it was going after my eggs...
2) Speaking of which, there was 5 eggs in the nest box tonight! I've gotten 4 a couple of times, but this was the first time I've gotten 5.
