Went to check my other two eggs this morning and the shell had been completely chipped off the blue one that had been cracked and the chick was obviously dead. Sigh. Hopefully the last one will hatch. It's due today but I'll leave it for a few extra just for good measure.

Haven't got my 500 lumen flashlight yet. I really want her to raise these chicks though and I'm worried about trying to put it back under her if I take it and it hatched.

The membrane was intact and I could tell it was pretty far developed but it stunk so I didn't open it to see just how much. Do eggs ever hatch past day 21 under a hen or is that only a possibility with an incubator?

You guys made me curious and I did something gross. Yep fully developed. I feel like I should've helped it yesterday but I had no idea what to do.
