Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

I am currently working on setting up my silkie pens (I will have four pens in total). I am just trying to figure out what colors I should work on and split up. The hardest part is I have some pretty roosters, but not sure if I want to do that many colors! My first delemma is that I have a nice Cuckoo rooster and really love his coloring, but no girls to pair him up with. I have B/B/S girls (one especially amazing looking blue girl) do I put him (Cuckoo) in the B/B/S pen or just blacks? But I also have a really nice Black cockeral, would he be better for the B/B/S pen? I want to set up a White pen (I have a really nice white showgirl rooster and silkie hen) I know you have to keep white seperate. And I am not sure if I want to mess with partridge, I have two really nice boys (will get pics later) one is a frizzled silkie and the other a blue partridge, but really don't have any hens for them.

Here are some of the boys and girl in question, at least for now. My camera died in the middle of my photo session!

Cuckoo rooster, you can see his lack of leg feathering

Black Cockeral, he really didn't want to cooperate for the pic

My Blue girl,

Thank you, Poulettes!!
Here are the same four chicks I posted. They are 4 months and two weeks old in these pictures so not adults by any means. I took these pictures this morning.

Lots of potential here! Is that gorgeous girl a paint or splash?
Our eggs arrived yesterday - going to get set this weekend! I'm so excited, Catdance babies are sooooo cute.

Peepblessed...your birds are just beautiful...Karen's stock is so great and I also have has awesome hatch rates from her shipped eggs all the way here in GA...that boy is amazing...

My CatDance eggs are on day 13. So far out of 24 eggs I still have 13 left and they are all moving about in there. I can't wait for the hatch! I'm in Maine, completely across the country! Maybe they'll have chicken accents

I have some older chicks (a month old) from MRobbins in my brooder. They're in that ugly stage between fuzzy chick and getting their adult feathers. Not very impressive right now! lol
So glad that stage doesn't last too long. :) Blessings on a great hatch!

My Blue girl,

Wow! You have some complications alright! Love that blue girl!!

I have a SG roo who I keep thinking is having eye issues but never any drainage...he just always looks like he is relaxed and layed back. I have put terrimycin in them for 5 days and no difference. He feels fine just bugs me he looks "stoned"

Thank you!

PeepBlessed she is a little paint and my favorite of this batch of babies. She was an ugly "duckling" right after hatch, or so I thought anyway, but soon became my little darling. She has had her paint markings since babyhood, though not the "loud" ones like I have seen. Someone on the paint thread suggested she might be a blue paint. She is always the one that seems to get pooped on though and it stains her white. I would really like to show her. Do you guys think she has that kind of potential and would be competitive? She'll be five months old on the 19th.

What do her feet, wings, comb & eyes look like?
I'm no expert but looks like her wings are a little loose? I'm not sure how long it takes for them to tuck in if that's what they're going to do.

I have a white pullet that started with loose wings but they seem to be getting better as she gets older. They're at about 6 months old. I don't think her wings will ever be great, but looks good so far.

I like your pullet.

I would check to see if her wings are folding correctly. The primaries should fold under the secondaries.

Here are a couple of shots from yesterday. I think her wings are tucking in better but it may be wishful thinking on my part.

(She's 4 1/2 months old) She has dark eyes (no pigment holes) all of her exposed skin is dark, her comb is small and dark, her feet are dark with five well separated toes, all have nails and are getting fluffier every day. Thanks a bunch for helping guys. I'm kind of barn blind when it comes to my animals, I think they are all gorgeous.

I think she is looking great.. I dont see a problem with her wings. She maybe could carry them a little tighter but they seem to be folding right.
