Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

Still need a white silkie cockerel Does not need to be show Quality Don 276 475 5972 of South west Va Washington county

I think she is looking great.. I dont see a problem with her wings. She maybe could carry them a little tighter but they seem to be folding right.

She is really gorgeous.

Thanks guys!

Here are a couple of shots from yesterday. I think her wings are tucking in better but it may be wishful thinking on my part.

(She's 4 1/2 months old) She has dark eyes (no pigment holes) all of her exposed skin is dark, her comb is small and dark, her feet are dark with five well separated toes, all have nails and are getting fluffier every day. Thanks a bunch for helping guys. I'm kind of barn blind when it comes to my animals, I think they are all gorgeous.

Pretty girl with great type for a paint.

I'm looking into getting into pure sq silkie breeding. I would love to have several in one pen, was told a good combo would be black roo, blue, splash hens. Any other color would probably give me some funky colors.

I know I will get pretty good splits in that mix, which is fine with me. I want to breed, sell, show - maybe. So am I on the right track?

Almost just lost poor little peep

Her owner (my friend) had put her under some blankets that were on top of a heating pad because she likes to be covered, but she put WAY too many blankets in there and the poor thing couldn't get out! So I was about to leave but for some reason decided to check on her before I went and I found her panting heavily, twitching, and limp

I realized she was having a heat stroke and immediately brought her to the sink and ran her feet under cool water and blew on her. After about a half hour of blowing on her, making her drink and calming her down she slowly got back to normal, but was tilting her head to the left a bit. When I left she was pretty much back to normal but I made sure I was clear NO MORE HEAVY BLANKETS because she would have been dead within the next half hour if I hadn't found her(she kept denying she would have died and said that she was fine, I think she didn't want to believe she almost killed her because she also lost her snake a few days ago and has been feeling bad about that too). I told her to make a nest rather than shoving her under all of the blankets so she can get out if she needs to and to cut the blankets up into smaller pieces. I hope she makes a full recovery, I told her to keep an eye on her but she looked like she was going to be okay.

Has anyone else ever experienced a silkie chick have a heat stroke?
