So cute!! It makes me want more fuzziesThanks! Whites definitely add a certain something to a flock. I'm so sorry for your loss. That particular color just seems to be a target for predators, I also lost my first white birds to a predator. Just terrible. You are lucky that your whites stayed so clean! Mine on the other hand, need to good bath, when it warms up. While I was taking pics of the white, I also grabbed some of the chicks that hatched yesterday
a splash baby.
Very nice!!! Yeah, I thought she was splash and that's what I was expecting, but now I'm not so sure. It's OK, whichever. My gorgeous white girls were killed in a raccoon attack and I haven't had any in over a year. It seems like the white ones have so much more feathering. They would dirt bathe and just look like dirty monsters, but the next day were so sparkiling clean they could have gone to a show. It always amazes me.
Why 2 egg cartons? Do you cut the bottom of each carton?I prefer a carton in a carton with a hole in the top one. I got lazy on my last batch. no holes and still had 100% hatch.
Beautiful chick!
Such a cutie!!![]()
That as one cute, typy chick. Notice how she stands in a balanced fashion without rearing back.Lots of chest out front. As she matures she will stand lower in front without having a too short back. Her tail will come up naturally, as she will be lower in front.I want to see this one grow out. Thanks! Whites definitely add a certain something to a flock. My chicks are about 6 months old now. 6 months and a week to be exact.I guess so. It's hard when you buy others stock because sometimes they don't have a clue of their chickens backgrounds and sometimes they just tell you what you want to hear.![]()
Yeah, see we are in the exact same place. My CatDance babies are 4 1/2 months old and 3 1/2 months old. How old are yours? I have bought a couple of show animals and then I have three rescue hens, along with a couple of older PQ hens.
Yes, I agree.
Thank you so much for your critique. My eye is still developing and this was extremely helpful. That as one cute, typy chick. Ok, it took me a while but I finally found it. Here was a message from Cinderga talking about wry neck. Hope it will help:We are having NO luck with this chick! NOW it seems to have wry neck! Treating with poly-vi-sol, just started yesterday but it's pretty severe, it's head is turned almost all the way upside down and it can't stand. It's alert though, and I told her to hand feed and water it.
Update: it seems to be doing better and is trying to hold it's head straight, it is also eating food mashed with water very well.
Quote: I have never seen eggs that were clear at the bottom. That is VERY strange.
