Silkie Chick needs Help....Video

Oh the poor baby...

I had the SAME exact thing happen...this is an awful story...

My little one had an upper respiratory infection, we treated with Tylan based on the advice of a lady locally that breeds chickens. We used a small needle and we were told to inject 1/2 cc into her breast (I later found that she only needed a 1/4 cc - after the injection she started doing the same thing...I think we pierced her lung with the needle....she then had a seizure (I think due to the overdose) about 5 minutes later and died...sad ending...It does sound like a major suffocation...I hope your babe makes it!

They sometimes have this wheezing respiratory distress when they have IB (Bronchitis). If this is what the chick has, there is no treatment except to give supportive care. Forcing food or water while she is struggling to breathe could result in death so keep stress to a minimum. I would make sure the chick is comfortable as far as temps & use Vet rx on her nostrils and a little in her mouth which might help her breathing. If it is EB, the worst of the symptoms will subside quite rapidly, but she will remain infectious to other birds for at least 2 weeks. Poor little baby, good luck.

Hi all,
I'm sorry to report that she passed away. I had given her water in her beak and she seemed to like it and actually slept for a bit. But within an hour, she had a seizure and died instantly. Minutes before the seizure, she was flapping her wings and seemed to be better. Poor little thing. All the other chicks seem fine but I'll be watching them closely.

Poor baby - I'm so sorry
