Hi everyone. I just added this cute addition to my flock today and only noticed their comb once I got home. Keep in mind I bought this one from someone who breeds for show quality and actively shows their birds. I know sometimes you get some with less than desirable features but I’m trying to figure out what comb they have. I’m thinking this is a roo but could be wrong. Approx 4 months old and while the comb is small, it doesn’t look like the typical walnut comb. Almost looks like a pea comb. I thought straight initially but surely it’d be very prominent at this age. My pictures aren’t great because I was holding with one hand and taking the picture with the other and this little guy was determined not to hold still. Lmk what you think and maybe gender guesses

I think you have a hen.

I could be wrong, but the other thing is, I had one silkie I thought was a pullet until he was eight months old. His comb was small until then. I actually wanted it to be a cockerel so was trying so hard to determine him as one but couldn't.

If that is truly a cockerel, it should be trying to crow very soon.

Yes, they’re so hard to tell! I could use a good white rooster but a hen would be exciting too.
