Since nobody answered under what gender, maybe someone here will answer.

Do all buff silkie roos have black tips on their tail feathers?
Can hens have black tips?

Most of the time, buff silkies do have black in them. People are forever trying to breed them to not have any black. It is always a work in progress, and yes, hens will have it too.

Hey thanks a lot

I was kind of thinking/hoping they were pullets but then the black threw me off when I saw some pics of roos with black.
I wish they weren't so hard to sex! Out of 6, 3 have big poofy heads that are rounded and 3 have poofs that point backwards. Just a big ol' waiting game of crowing or egg that I don't like..haha

Don't feel bad. I am playing that waiting game myself right now. I have 2 Showgirls and one silkie that are 4 months old. I am 99 % sure one of the showgirls is a hen, no egg yet but all indications she is. the other 2? HA!

I am waiting for an egg or a crow. Driving me mental. and it could still be months.
