Silkie dyeing- is it "cruel"?

I have one silkie in my flock, a rooster. He was bright pink when I rescued him from a teenage boy who bought him on a whim at the state fair -_- He's mostly white now, but also pretty dirty, and I think he's been pooped on; he could use a bath, anyway. I was thinking of just adding a little blue dye to the bathwater, for fun, and because it's going to get muddy and he might not look dirty as easily.

What is your opinion on re-dyeing him? I don't want to do it if it's "cruel" or mean, of course..

It's not mean and it makes them look adorable. they don't really care the rooster (if you have one) might like her colors though

Thank you! That's what I thought- it's just a little food coloring in his bath water... I'm sure there are cruel ways to dye animals, and obviously I wouldn't do it if it caused him any harm. Here I'm just making sure, because being considered a horrible chicken owner would kill me!
