Hello,
My black and white silkie are 19 weeks old and I’m pretty sure they’re both hens, but suddenly our black silkie has a comb, and our white one doesn’t. Is it normal for hens to have combs, or do you think our black one is going to turn into a boy overnight sometime?

Combs usually fill out more as their hormone levels increase closer to laying! My silkie cross that has a sort of walnut comb has hers filled out and “bulking up” as she’s getting closer now!

It’s funny that you posted your reply today!! Someone in the coop laid their first egg and I’m stoked. I’m going to assume it’s probably her egg due to her size and comb. She is the biggest between the 2 silkies, blue cochin bantam and other little bantam mix in the flock.

That’s eggciting!! :clap
Can I see photos of your other girls? Did you take a photo of the egg at all?? I did that for my first one :gig
