Silkie genders... :)

The guy from NY only wanted the 2 little pure Silkies anyways right? They still seem rather small and have Silkie feathers, so they are with my bantam chicks yet. Except that one you said was lav. split (partridge colored) and the black one, I can't tell if the other one or two with Silkie feathering are EE mixes or pure Silkies. You might have to check them all out when you come to get those 2 for that guy if he wants them.

The first EE mix I had hatch that was yellow/white, is turning cream/buff, but has a pretty lacing appearance. I am really hoping that one is a girl since its the first chick I ever hatched here. The other 2 are getting a little more buff coloring to them. I will keep as many girls as I can tho. I really love the mixes.

I wonder if it has something to do with the time of year? Does temps affect the quality of the eggs or how well they hatch?

Well at least she got some, thats more than she had before!

Hmmm, I'm looking at these pictures and the white one looks like mine. I was told it was a pullet 2 weeks ago when I got "it" but not sure. No eggs and no noise so when do they start crowing? Here' s a picture.. She/he seems to be the same size as my pullets....

The guy wanted around 4 pure silkies. The silkie-feathered chicks should be pure silkie or 3/4 silkie 1/4 EE. Im hoping that with my EE/Silkie mixes, I can create a silkie-sized egg that is blue.

Your going to love this news Deb! Marmalade, one of our buff orp girls, has started laying! I'm going to upload pictures if the computer co-operates.

That might affect the hatch rate. I've never hatched eggs this late before, so you could be right. I have around 6-7 more eggs due on the 8th, so hopefully they'll hatch with no problems.

He said late spring so I'm thinking it's about 6 months old.

I love this white silkie and they are hard to find here so I REALLY want to keep itee

Look at that beard on her! I recently got 3 splash silkie youngsters from SunAngel. Looks like I have 2 boys and a grl.

I think splash might be my favorite color ecause they come in so many shades/patterns.

If you have a better picture of your white silkie, that would help me tell the gender better. At 6 months old, it looks like a pullet that should start laying at any time.

Sorry my pics aren't that great. My camera hasn't worked well since my kids started using it and I can't even get the flash to work anymore.

Here is the little black Silkie (pretty sure its a pure one)

This is the one with that brown spot on its head, its still there lol

This one is a sweetheart.

One of the whites turning buff. This was the white one you said was for me, that had the spots.

This one is a little flighty.

A real calm one.

I love this ones markings, its sweet too.

The other white turning buff.

My favorite, personality wise.

Love this ones hairdo lol.

This is the black EE you said was for me, but it has a real attitude.

This is that really pretty rust colored unique one. Wish I could have gotten a better pic. This one has a nice personality too.

This is the second white one I hatched. Much bigger than the Silkies you brought (do you think it will be standard sized?)

And this is the only one that has a name and my most favorite. The first one I hatched...Pip (or Pipper) You can just barely see the lacing on its wings. I will be sad if this one is a boy.
