Silkie Hatch-A-Long 2015

We put eggs into lockdown last night and was setting up the brooder this afternoon when i noticed one of the barnyard mix eggs has pipped already. We are only on day 19, so i am hoping the silkie eggs start to pip tonight or tomorrow morning.

Silkies are driving me crazy. Still no pips and the barnyard mix have 2 chicks out and 5 pips. Praying they are just running a bit later (today is day 20). I haven't had much luck hatching out eggs from this trio. I may look at getting a new roo.

Well all but two have hatched, but they have pipped so should be soon... ish
What a hatch, a fair amount of the chicks pipped far below the air cell and a few of them tried to zip vertically instead of horizontally. I had to assist a few but only lost one due to rough hatching. water candled late yesterday and pulled any that weren't going to hatch. once the two in the incubator hatch it will be a total of 24 chicks! Here is a picture of what was hatched last night, (so minus 4 total) lots of colors and 4 showgirls, at least 2 of which are paints :)

and just for fun here are some of the weird pips, first one below the air cell and second one trying to zip vertically

We finally had a silkie pip late last night, but none hatched yet. We are up to 7 barnyard mix, with 2-3 more of them pipped. I see a few of the silkie eggs rocking when i shine the flashlight on them, so hopefully they get on the ball soon.
