Silkie Hatch-A-Long 2015

I ended up with 7 little fluffies, the last 4 were positioned wrong and then got shrink wrapped. I was able to save one who had pipped a big hole so I could see what was happening.

Both my humidity indicators said I was up in the 75% range so idk- the eggs had pipped pretty early so maybe they dried out.

I am still just so happy that I got 7 with my first go with incubating eggs and they were shipped eggs.

Can I join in?
I was planning on getting 12 silkie eggs, but after looking at the birds from a seller of the eggs online, now the 12 egg, have turned into 24 lol

im really hoping for a good hatch rate :) , for the silkie eggs, i am going to be using an octagon 20, advance, with the automatic turning cradle, im hoping with such a good incubator, it will help hith the hatch rate!!

i hear that a dry hatches are good. At the minute i am hatching my geese in 30 % humidity, and its staying around that, with no water in the incubtor, so should I also put it about 30% for the silkies and then at lockdown, bring it upto 60%? would a dry hatch work better with silkie eggs? And should I do a cool down period, and if so how long?

The silkie eggs arrived today, in good condition, all intact, i womt be ptting them in the bator till friday tho, as i have another hatch going on!!
