Hi there

I have 2 silkie hens and a Rooster. They are both sitting and on about Day 15 or 16. The one hen is super broody and puffs up and growls when I go in the coop, and the other, sitting is very docile and nice.

the last clutch she laid I took the eggs because we wanted to try incubation. She was pretty ticked at me, but within a few days she was laying again and between them they laid 13 eggs and then stopped. The rooster was good until about Day 10, he got bored and started harassing the girls and broke 2 eggs in the process. I then moved them into a larger cage within the coop that they can only get out of (he can't get in) They seem to take turns getting up to stretch, drink or eat and the other sitting hen will steal her eggs, and then when the other gets up, she steals a few back...back and forth (not sure if that is good for the eggs. But I candled them tonight and eggs are 3/4 full and lots of movement.

I took five tonight and put in the bator (because I only had one chick hatch from my last batch and she seriously needs a friend) So I hope between me and the hens we get a few chicks.

I am new at this as well. In another section of the coop I have 25 red sex links supplying eggs!
