Hi! We lost our beloved silkie hen to a fox in the spring but loved her so much we wanted to add a silkie to our flock so we picked up a chick and s/he is now almost 10 weeks old and I’m wondering if anyone has any inclination as to whether it’s a he or she 😊

Thanks!

Good morning and welcome to BYC! :frow

Her behavior among her brood flock would be a good indicator or maybe helpful clue on gender.

But at this point.. if you don't have anything behaviorally SCREAMING roo.. Yes, I'm going with her possibly being a pullet!

Boys are usually showing a hint of wattle at least even though the bearding gene inhibits size.. and she's sporting zero.

Splash is one of my favorite Silkie colors. :love

Thank you for the responses, they have made me super excited!

Doesn't display any male/rooster tendencies in the flock but s/he is with another rooster so I didn't know if the other rooster was just more dominant or if she is a she 🤞
