Silkie Holiday Hatch-a-long

Not a very good pic but that's the first one out. I have another that just hatched. Once they are done hatching and fluffing up I'll post more pictures!
How many of your silkies made it to lockdown?

8 or 9 to lockdown. I' ll count again in morning. I didnt even candle them just put them in. I need a hatching break. Good thing i' m putting bators up at easter. Need to get these babies out of my living room. That quail is so tiny and cute.

I candled when I pulled the quail out this morning and I am WORRIED! The air cell looks too big AGAIN and I'm having flash backs to my last hatch which was a nightmare. I decided not to assist any chicks this time around. I'm not sure if you recall but last time I had to put one down after helping it hatch. I will let nature take it course. I lost 3 quail due to shrink wrap and I ended up with 19 healthy birds.

I wonder if its silkies in general. My other eggs hatch fine by themselves but not the silkies. Though my home grown ones did good. The only help I do now is make the pip bigger and make sure membrane moist. They are on their own after that. Survival of the fittest. I' ll be ao glad for next year and hopefully broody silkies. Let them hatxh them. Lol. Much less stress.

Replaced batteries in flash light and recandeled. 3 are alive. That's it. Candeled other breeds and over half going strong. Didn't do exact count usually do that at lockdown. Should be happy for the 3 as that's 3 more than I had.

I did some candling tonight as well, all are fertile, I'm pretty sure, but some air cells are some funny shapes. but i'll have to wait and see what happens!!

I hear chirping but no external pips yet... I'm so nervous and I have to go to work until 6!!
