Hi I have a question if I breed my grey silkie with a white rooster will I get grey silkies out of it as I can’t find a grey silkie rooster anywhere in my area so when my grey silkie starts laying can I breed the white silkie with her and get grey silkie baby’s (white silkie is still to young to breed with yet)

Well, she's a colour usually called silver partridge, in any breed but silkies.

He's a white silkie, so he probably is recessive white. Recessive white covers all colours, but the underlying colours and patterns are still in his genetics. With silkies, recessive white probably covers partridge. Whether it's gold or silver partridge? Who knows?

So she's silver partridge. If he is gold or silver partridge, the male chicks are definitely going to be silver partridge, and the females might be gold or silver partridge.

Due to the recessive white, I can't guarantee that that will be the case. And the only way to find out is test-breeding (or genetic sequencing, maybe?)

Hi there, welcome to BYC! :frow

Wow, is that an actual grey Silkie and not just a blue Silkie being called grey?? Pretty cool. Simple answer is NO..

Here is a color calculator.. you might need to figure out what the Grey Silkie pattern is called in other breed as it isn't listed as simply grey on here...

The first poster gave a great explanation... as I write this! :thumbsup

Get more grey Silkies to breed by ordering here... well, I was gonna provide a link to ideal poultry but it says they are sold out of grey through 2021... I think some sellers put birds on their site they don't actually have and claim they are sold out.

Adding your general location might help folks make their best suggestion possible at a glance. ;)
