Silkie Mom killing chicks (accidental)

She killed one chick by it getting strangled by feathers and now another one was caught luckily i got it free so i saved one but anything i can do i already plan to remove them as soon as there a bit more developed there at abut 1-2 weeks right now

Can you clip the feathers they are getting caught in?

Not without sacrifice to warmth she plucked a bunch already and I cut butt hairs to clean dreadlocked poop

No other cases of this it may have just been the nursery was too small i have since moved her to her own coop and it appears to be going well

Is the mom a silkie? Sometimes you’ll have to trim over the feathers (fur?). It happens with mine sometimes.
