We are starting to get some really nice crest on our boys. The boys above are only 5 months old, so they still have tons of maturing left to do, so we are hoping for some great crest on these boys. The father has an awesome crest.

That's why i got a PAIR!!!

First, there are plenty of cocks with very nice crests. I do agree that the lack of a good crest significantly lowers the bird's quality. Second, crest is NOT why my boy in the first photo is henny feathered. He is henny feathered because he has the penciling pattern that a partridge hen would have, not the plumage pattern that a male should. It is caused by a specific gene, and is a requirement for sebrights and I think another breed, but cannot recall which one offhand. It is a DQ in all other breeds. Gage has a good sized comb, not huge, but not tiny; it is hidden by his crest.

He doesn't seem to have the Roo feathers all over, hackle feathers, long flowing ones. Just very soft, even colored & fluffy all over. I know you were talking about the penciling. And I was just talking about the crest is what others need to look like, no one is saying he doesn't have a good comb, the big hair will cover it, I like that. Combs in general gross me out...lol.

I do find him a very attractive bird, but he doesn't display as manly as other cocks. Tomorrow I will try to get a recent photo of him and another blue partrige cock,

I guess, by henny, I mean a roo that is very feminine, the ladies are much prettier over all to me. More soft and silky[no pun intended] more like a cotton ball. It'd be cool to make one like that.

But, I did realize yours must be still growing, might of read he was young somewhere when I saw the picture. Either way, to me he is just beautiful!
