Silkie Rooster X Laying Hen = broodier laying hens??

I want to cross a silkie rooster with a laying hen (who doesn't want to sit on her eggs) so I can hatch some chicks. Will this work?

Well, you'll be decreasing the size of your laying flock and the size of your eggs. Other than that, they may possibly be more broody.

 

[Sonoran Silkies]

My crosses are as good or better broodies than the silkies; but none are from what is typically referred to as non-setting breeds.
