Its amazing just how fast chicks feather up but it seems like Silkies feather quicker? Oh I just adore fuzzy feet!!Me too! They are crazy floofy! I've been meaning to look up silkie feet, these little ones even have floof on their two back toes, my hatchery chicks don't.
Wow, beautiful photos, Fizz Bang is a gorgeous boy!Nu and Heavy are starting to grab the pullets, they don't know what to do yet but are definitely being aggravating to the girls. So, Fizz Bang is happy to be a yard rooster and I moved the two little terrors into his bachelor pad for now.
The Fizz is supper pleased with this arrangement

Chicks sure grow like weeds, don't they?! It's as if you could watch them get bigger within the hour! And the fuzz on your babies...I see floof already.....they are SO adorable! And little cute floofs! They are growing wing feathers already.they grow up so fast! But I'm very happy they are thriving.
They outgrew their spaghetti lid food bowl, yesterday they ate two full caps of mash by 4pm, so I moved them to a big yogurt lid, super fancybut it works. I'll clean their brooder out tonight (don't mind the mess!) I've been dumping dry crumbles on the floor for them to pick through, many of the crumbles are too big for them still so they get left behind and used for bedding. Quite absorbent
it works and if they eat it, it is food instead of ending up with issues from eating shavings. I'll probably go to shavings next weekend, we'll see how mature they can be to know they aren't food.
Sounds like a gorgeous day out there. Send any rain back this way, we are drier than dry!!Oh, it is absolutely gorgeous this morning! 62 now with a high of 83, hopefully not too humid!
He's got a good crower, lol.
They have been so quiet this evening, they got all excited over the fresh mash but quickly filled up and zonked out again. This growing is hard work! They're little wing feathers are sprouting so crazy fast. In the last 24 hours some of them have grown at least 1/2". It's amazing!Chicks sure grow like weeds, don't they?! It's as if you could watch them get bigger within the hour! And the fuzz on your babies...I see floof already.....they are SO adorable!![]()
