Silkie saga

I just adore your birds! :love So beautiful and unique, each one was wonderful conformation and stance. JetPack sounds like a real sweetheart. 🄰 I love Chonkers colors, I have never seen such color in a Silkie! ā¤ Cracker Jack too is stunning with his pattern! The girls look SO sophisticated!!! :love All so beautiful! SmokeJump looks so comfy under the tree. 😊 Yes, most cats just can't wait to climb the tree. :D I can remember my dad bolting to tree onto a piece if plywood to keep it from falling over when 3 cats would be chasing each other and of COURSE they would run up the tree.
I'm with your dad, there's no use getting upset at them for doing cat things, so you might as well make it safe 🤣 wow, I can't imagine the mischief 3 cats could get into! We just have the one inside and he's a ham. He's already removed the skirt from the tree and is running around the living room pushing it around.

Oh he is SO adorable!! :love What a cute face! ā¤ I can see some mischief in there though. ;) Yes cats will be cats! We lost many lamps, vases, unexpected cats on the dinner table, etc... :gig My mom worked for an animal shelter and was always bringing home abandoned cats, abused or those slated for the euthanasia chambers. We always had at least 3 to 6 cats in the house. All indoor only cats. I really enjoyed them growing up, it really opened my eyes to the love cats can give and the understanding of keeping cats off the streets. They really are a joy to keep! šŸˆā€ā¬›

So, sounds like I'll be taking a road trip to pick up 5 or 6 4wk old silkie chicks this coming Saturday, gotta make sure the foundation stock for my breeding pens is exceptional. 🤣 you should have seen and heard the hubbys reaction 🤣 he's really thrilled... plus the 7 growing in the incubator. But, we just found where we are going to put the grow out and breeding pens, so we'll be making more room over the next few months, no worries 😃 I might cut back on my layer hatching plans for the spring though, so many silkies!

Oh how egg-citing! You are going to be up to your arm pits in Silkies. :lau I am so glad your hubby is onboard with your chicken adventures! 😊 Can't wait to see your new additions! 🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄

After I posted this I continued on and made the final deal, 4 black ans 4 splash chicks, plus 6 splash eggs 11 days from hatching. Wowza! The silkie saga continues 😃

I think the area we are going to fence in is about 50 by 20, so I'll thinking of partitioning a few areas within that and making breeding and grow out pens.

I read about your "traveling eggs" in your hatching thread. :gig You sound so excited on this adventure and this is all that matters. :hugs 😊

OMG....they are over the top adorable! ā¤ I too love that first photo!! šŸ’– Silkie chicks are the only chicks I know of that look like adults as babies, so they look really silly when young. šŸ˜‚ Super duper adorable!! :love Yesterday was a huge chick success!! 😊 How did the eggs fare?

The one black chick I'm sure is a cockerel I picked up to make sure it wasn't a a Showgirl 🤣 she had a ton of Showgirl roosters 🤣 he just has less growth on his neck feathers so his neck is really skinny looking, I'll have ti get a good photo of him today.

I'm sure I have the one black 4 wk cockerel and 1 splash cockerel, one more black I'm on the fence and the others are a waiting game 😊

The tall black one in the back? He's cute with his long giraffe neck. It will be fun to watch them develop into adults, Silkies always look like they have something to say. 🤣 Cutie pies! ā¤
