U know something...I think u might have just given me the validation I was looking for. I love that the Serama is small and adorable but what really caught my attention is that they supposedly have a spunky or assertive personality. Is that a fact?

Seramas are great. Very spunky and energetic. They like going everywhere and being everywhere. They also LOVE to explore. I have quite a few seramas myself, and they always bring a surprise. Every day. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. If raised right, they also find time to snuggle up and cuddle.

I plan on getting 2 chickens. I like Silkies but wish they had more of a personality. I like Polish because they're active but exactly how active are they?? I like the Serama's confidence and

Yes polish have big personallys. They are funny birds with their big crest. They do fly, but not as much as bantams .They do have bantam polish. I say get a Silver Laced Polish. This verity of polish is gorgeous!

I don't have seramas but I do have polish. I do know you have to be careful about seramas because some breeders claim to have them but they are really just bantams. Like not the size smaller than bantams. Seramas would probably be a good indoor chicken. Sence I don't have them I don't know much on the personality.

I have had seramas (six purebreds and three mixes) and sebrights (three, though one died as a chick). From my limited experience, I would go with seramas, as sebrights, though friendly, are sort of jumpy and easily frightened. Seramas are more docile. Though I’d also recommend, if you want a single bantam rooster, that you look for a pet one in need of rehoming. This way you’ll know the temperament, since even bantam roosters can end up aggressive.

I actually was looking into the Silver Laced Polish because of their gorgeous plumage (as advertised on the site) and then I check on random pics on the internet and they don't look as cute. May I see pics of ur chickens? Another concern is the flying that u mentioned. I'm ok with some flying as my quails occassionally do that. I'm just worried that these chickens are going to be flying onto the chandeliers or something.

U seem like u know what u're talking about, so let me ask u this...which one of these roosters has the least annoying or loud crow? I ask u this since I'm planning on buying them at a day old so there's a 50/50 chance I get a rooster. Keep in mind that he'll be staying in my bedroom so if I'm going to be awoken every morning at 5 am by a rooster crowing in my ear then I'm probably going to want to go with the one that makes the least noise.

U mentioned rehoming. Is that like taking in a rescue? My last rooster was a rescue and I would definitely do it again. So, if u or anyone else has a chicken (any breed) that needs rehoming right at this moment please let me know. Of course, that's if I haven't acquired one yet.

By the way, how docile are Silkies? Like I said before, I like a bird with some sort of personality and I'm not sure Silkies would be interactive enough for my liking. They are one of my favorites though.

I still don't agree with keeping a chicken indoors, much less an apartment. But I suppose if you have actual legal permission nothing is going to stop you.


I would actually recommend a Cornish bantam rooster. They don't fly a ton since they do get a tad heavy for their size (mine don't like to fly more than like 4 feet high). They're also people friendly and if you spend any amount of time working on them, you can get them to be very friendly. I have an extra male that loves his belly scratched.

Still think you at the very least should make a roost for night time. They can't be trained to hold waste in like a dog or cat and won't get up to go on a pad either
