silkie sexing

I would be absolutely ecstatic if they are!!! I also have a pair I posted on the main sexing page, older was one of each and they are just stunning, so I want to be sure! Thanks for your guesses!

Sonz77 I need some of your luck! I have 6 silkies now I got 4 in April and 3 of the 4 ended up being Roos and my other 2 are a week old so I still have at least 5-6 weeks left till I'll have an idea. I'm REALLY hoping for hens cause I already have enough roosters!

I breed and sell silkies, and while I have to take an educated guess on which ones to keep for next years breeders, that's all it is. 3-4 months before you can say with any certainty. That s the only way to be sure that my customers don't get any unpleasant surprises . Often the first signs are streamers and crest shape.

I this a male or a female silkie? I suspect that it's a boy but his comb looks too small to be a roo. He's about 2 months old. Thanks.
Because its a partridge silkie you can sex by colour as well. If its a boy it will get a lot more red/gold feathers grow in on the neck and back as it matures. There is a partridge silkie thread here somewhere so you could also ask opinions over there.

okay, thank you!

are they just too small still or were the pics bad? As far as the combs, I'm not too concerned because they're pets, not show. Will breeding them with a walnut comb silkie give the chicks the walnut comb?. I'm just really hoping the lady was right about the sexes. I'm really hoping for more girls!!
I wouldn't be breeding any silkie with a single comb at all, you are just perpetuating the problem of the single comb appearing again and again in subsequent generations of silkies.
