silkie sexing

Subhanalah,

This kinda gives you a idea what to look for. When it came to my last chickens though, the boys looked identical to the girls. They were all 3 big poof balls. I had 1 boy and 2 girls. The boy did not look like this silkie to the left. I had to pull his hair away from his face to see his big comb. So if he's got a really funky comb and it's not super flat, very high chance he's a boy. Most of all the way they walk, some of them have their chest really puffed out when they walk and chase the other ones. Some of them just waddle out when you open the door. That is also another indicator. That is always how I was able to figure it out when they got older.

You know what I don't get is how the boys silkies can very so much. Like one could look like a boy and the only sign is pulling their hair away from their face and some have that hanging skin from their beak and some have longer hair by the neck and thats it. Is that the difference between a pure bred and a mix??
