silkie sexing

Hi I'm back

,

after the last two silkies turned out to be both cockerels we now have a new batch of chicks to try again. Hopefully with more luck this time. Unfortunately only one Silkie in this lot (+ Peking and Wyandottes) as the season has just started here
.
Here is a pic of the little one, what do you think?

Just kidding, I know this is too young to say anything, however wanted to show just for cuteness

.
What color would you say this will be. The breeder said she will be black, however at the moment there is lots of light gray fluff appearing every day so I'm not so sure about the black unless this grey colouring is normal at this age (2½ weeks).

Cheers Trish
Looks soooo cute!!! No idea about the colour but my darkest chicks (black head and back, gray wings) turned light blue partridge (or something like that I attached photos a week ago or so). So you never know. Yours doesnt look very black ;)

Hi Brooke,

This is pretty much what the little one looks like so it might turn out to be grey or blue in the end. Not that I would care either way, I like all of these coulors main thing is that this time it turns out to be a pullet

. By the way (sorry for OT) what is the difference between blue and gray.
Here is another pic, not very good though, I have to try the camera next time rather than my mobile.

Hey guys
This is sad news
My male silkie just died
We haven't figured out the cause
We were planning on breeding him and the other silkie that turned out to be female
But I guess that won't happen
My little brother had named him tidbit and he was very sad to find out that he passed.

Sorry for your loss!

@Lightchick, I'm so sorry for your loss :(

This is my first post and I'm so excited this thread exists! This is my first time raising chickens and I'm learning so much everyday.

I have a Silkie named Bowie (after David Bowie). I have no idea what the sex is, somedays I think pullet, other days cockerel.

Here's a picture of Bowie that I took today, I would love your opinion. Bowie is around 3 or 4 months old...he/she was given to me as a gift and I have no idea! I haven't heard crowing yet though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed
